Honey Chicken Wings
Honey Sweet With a Touch of Ginger
Honey Chicken Wings are a popular game time snack for our football crazed friends. The blend of honey, lime and ginger flavors create a delicious coating for these honey oven baked wings. From our experience, using fresh grated ginger makes a big difference. You can use powdered ginger but it won't have the same intense ginger flavor.
We like to offer these as an alternative to hot wings since some of our guests can't stand the heat. Although, I like to have a change from the hot stuff once in a while.
You will need to plan for them to marinate for at least two hours before baking. You can marinate them in a large bowl or ziploc bags. Just remember to keep the marinade for later use. Since it has been in contact with raw chicken, it will need to be boiled so you can use it safely.
The wings will be put into the oven to broil until they get to be a golden brown. Then they will finish cooking in a baking dish with the honey marinade.

- Cut wings at the joint to separate. (See photo below)
- Combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, lime, and ginger in a large bowl
- Place chicken wings and honey mixture in sealable bags.
- Put in refrigerator for at least 2 hours
- Set oven to broil
- Remove chicken from bags, keep the marinade, you will use it later.
- You will need a broiler pan with slots to let grease flow through to bottom of pan.
- Spray the top of the broiler pan with cooking spray
- Place wings on pan and Broil until light brown on one side.
- Take out pan and turn the wings then broil until light brown and remove from oven.
- Pour marinade in medium size pot and bring to boil for a minute.
- Remove marinade from heat.
- Place wings in shallow baking dish, and pour the marinade over the wings.
- Place in oven on bake, 350 F.
- Bake wings 20 - 30 minutes, basting occasionally.
If the chicken starts to burn, reduce heat and cover with foil.

Grab both ends of the wing and bend it open until it's straight. This will help you locate the area to cut. Cut the wing in half by placing your knife into the socket that connects the leg and wing. This will take a bit of practice. You will know you have the right spot when it cuts through easily. If it is too hard to cut then you haven't found the right spot. Just keep moving the knife around until you get it.
