Honey Chicken Wings
Honey Chicken Wings are a popular game time snack for our football crazed friends. The blend of honey, lime and ginger flavors create a delicious coating for oven baked wings. We always offer these as an alternative to hot wings since some of our guests can't stand the heat. Although, I like to have a change from the hot stuff once in a while.
You will need to plan for them to marinate for at least two hours before baking. You can marinate them in a bowl, shallow baking dish or ziploc bag.
Honey Wings
Ingredients:
3 pounds Whole Chicken Wings
1 cup Honey
1/2 cup soy sauce
1/2 cup ketchup
Juice of 1 Lime
2 tablespoons grated Fresh Ginger (can use powdered instead)
Preparation:
Cut wings at the joint to separate. (See photo below)
In a large bowl or shallow baking dish, combine honey, soy sauce, ketchup, lime, and ginger.
Toss chicken in honey mixture and coat well.
Cover and refrigerate for 2 hours.
Set oven to broil
Remove chicken from marinade, keep the marinade, you will use it later.
Broil wings until golden brown on both sides.
Pour marinade in medium saucepan and bring to boil over medium heat.
Remove marinade from heat.
Place wings in shallow baking or casserole dish, and pour the marinade over the wings.
Place in oven on bake, 350 F.
Bake wings 20 - 30 minutes, basting occasionally.
If the chicken starts to burn, reduce heat and cover with foil.

Cut the wing in half by placing your knife into the socket that connects the leg and wing. This will take a bit of practice. You will know you have the right spot when it cuts through easily. If the knife won't go through then you have not found the right spot. Just keep moving the knife around until you get it.
